Local
Watershed/River GroupsSupporting community-based
efforts by facilitating communication and cooperation among
organized groups is the key to protecting and restoring rivers. The
Alliance believes that support services and programs to achieve
these goals are best delivered on a regional, watershed basis.
Ultimately, services can be delivered more effectively because
rivers are inherently geographic features, particularly
characterized by local land and water use and management. Delivering
needed programs and services on a regional level allows the Alliance
to focus its resources on the issues that are specific to a region,
river or locale.
